Switching to data science is not easy. Despite being trained as a physical chemist and programming extensively in my first PhD, I found myself disoriented when I started using the Python Pandas package. In this section, I want to create a space to share my experience. I also have a question that hovers over my head for a while: Do you need to be a super human to be a data scientist? One needs to know Python (and/or R), Stats, visualization, machine learning, deep learning, databases, natural language processing. The list can go on and on. So, are we setting unrealistic expectations for this career? Finally, there is the quality control side. If you were an employer, how do you know the person you hired will do/is doing the work well? After all, there are many pitfalls along the way of data analysis. Those are the question I hope to find answers through my journey.
